One of the most fun ways to get a peek into another person’s life is to experience their city like a local would -- with a homebase in a their space. LifeSwap takes the fun of living how a stranger does one step further. We’ve teamed up with AirBnB to give you a taste of what it’s like to step into someone else’s shoes. We can safely say that this is the best giveaway of any SXSW party around.
With our first Yes Lawd! party, we introduced you to your new Tuesday night spot at Mr. Wu's Basement. We're keeping the hype train going, only this time you won’t only get your resident DJ's Jean Sean and Anna Collecta. Boston Chery is a Boston, MA to Brooklyn, NY native DJ and Socialite. Being surrounded by music at a very young age, she started bringing people together with music when she began DJing at the age of 19 in her childhood friend’s home. After she was continuously complimented for her amazing music selection along with her many other talents, she eventually transitioned to the underground music scene. Boston Chery is among the next wave of NYC thinkers, dreamers, innovators, life-changers, and motivators.
Originating from Miami, FL comes a producer/DJ who's sound reflects the way of life in the shady playground of South Florida. With prominent performances throughout Florida, New York (Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens), at Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, and having recently moved to New York -- Jean Sean continues to break into the big apples music scene with his weekly residency at Mr. Wu's Basement.
Anna Collecta is a New York based DJ passionate about bridging together classic funk, hip-hop, disco and latin breaks. She has played in some of New York’s hottest clubs and has her base at Collage NYC - one of New York’s longest running hip-hop live art parties. She’s no stranger to the industry and has opened for Slick Rick the Ruler, Savion Glover and Crazy Legs from the one and only Rock Steady Crew. At present, you can find her spinning in Brooklyn at King Tai Bar and at Mr Wu’s Basement where she is a resident DJ with Jean Sean on Tuesday nights.
The legend of Mr. Wu begins in the heart of Chinatown. A boy of only 10 when he moved to the neighborhood and collided with the soulful streets of a city undiscovered to him. As he grew older he found himself attracted to the lure of travel, unearthing many cultures. None louder than Bowery Street, a dirty playground for locals and loungers packed together to form a world of its own. Wu became fascinated by the neighborhood. He wanted to create a space for his friends and family, a lounge inspired by his worldly adventures. Now, Wu opens his doors to the people and the pulse of NYC. Offering an immersive experience of good people, good music and the best of times.
